In the 90's film started going away. People were buying digital cameras. Mostly pushing for this was the internet as an engine. It took too long to process film and scan photographs in. Getting a digital camera was a lot easier. Digital was like a speed up. Then we saw CD go away. Ipod evolution destroyed the record store on the corner. This is an on going process.

For example, newspapers are going away. It cost too much money. Digital distribution is less expensive.

People - pulp don't pay. It is far easier to move electrons than dead wood. OK so say goodbye to newspapers - we knew them so well. Today time warner says it will sell its magazines. Still not convince will you soon will be. I expect trouble with daily newspapers to continue as craigslist eats up advertising and circulations plummet.
