Gasoline Stations
Sadly, we see that our severe economic recession has consequences. There are many filling stations that are now gone. True, some shut down last year when gas went over $4/gal. Other gasoline stations shut down this year because banks were not able to make loans due to the TARP crisis. Tragically, as a result customers have fewer choices in gasoline stations and future shortages will be worse.

newspapers in woe
People - pulp don't pay. It is far easier to move electrons than dead wood. OK so say goodbye to newspapers - we knew them so well. Today time warner says it will sell its magazines. Still not convince will you soon will be. I expect trouble with daily newspapers to continue as craigslist eats up advertising and circulations plummet.

soda tax
Demonizing and taxing soda pop is the latest liberal strategy. Their attack on sugary beverages is one more tax on an already more poor american empire. OK so hold on to your cocacola can because one day soon a new soda tax might make it illegal. It is like everything we love is taken away from us.

Milk shortages in europe
Currently there are milk shortages in europe. UK is hard hit by falling prices due to global recession that force many dairy farmers out of biz. In fall many cows produce less milk making situation worse. OK my prediction is we will see wide spread food shortages in the months to come.

more flipflops ahead
Debunker flipflop will appear in coming months when it becomes obvious that there is no economic recovery. That day in not too far away. What we need to know is that China says our current 35% tariff is the start of a trade war.
The Smoot-Hawley tariff act of 1930 is given credit for starting the Great Depression. It is funny how history repeats itself.

mexican swine flu is back
Well, actually, it never left. People, our gov have new regulations for small biz on swine flu. OK as they say, it ain't over till its over. The epidemic has not even started yet. Expect over crowded hospitals as patients are being treated for one of the worst outbreaks ever.

Here is futuristic art for factory and city based on steampunk. It is both max retro and modernistic at the same time. Kind of reminds me of a 1930's vision of the days to come.

our recession is forcing retailers
Sadly, our severe economic recession if forcing retailers to down size and think small. This should not startle us. All the while we have seen that retail has been hit hard. For example, this year many stores have closed and next year many more.

Foreclosures near record highs
Bank foreclosures on house are near a record high. This is because people are losing jobs. When that happens they cannot pay their mortgage. There are currently ten people looking for every available job. This means that our situation is very grim.

our WREAKcovery
Yesterday, I went by a used car lot, and over half the lot was empty. The salesmen seem eager to sell, but there are few visitors. Debunkers claim that all is fine and we are in a recovery. Perhaps they mean WREAKcovery. Well, sales figures are way down for many companies. For example, Zale that high end jewelry chain reports a loss 72 cents this quarter compared to last year's 48 cent loss. Talbots reports this year it will lose 52 cents versus last year's negative of only 34 cents.
Instead of things getting better that are still steadily getting worse. Sales are in decline and few realize how bad things are. People we have a very real problem on our case. It is more than cars, handbags, or expensive jewelry. In fact, the whole world economy is going down. Welcome to our WREAKcovery.

me vs economists
How did economists get it so wrong? Well, me answer is that they are asleep at our wheel and need to wake up. A nation cannot had multi trillion dollar deficits and expect to survive. This year our deficit is 1.6 trillion. Please remember that in 2007 GM lost 39 billion dollars, GM's biggest loss in its entire history, but by 2009 it was bankrupt.
People if we keep going down the same road we are traveling then we will go over a cliff. China plans to stop loaning us money.

Gold bugs
Gold bugs see a return of that magical $1000 mark. Lust for the yellow metal is at an all time high. Folks, we have gold fever as prices go up. However, the future price of a gold is up, but for sad reason. It seems that the dollar is dropping. For example, if I buy an ounce of gold today at $1000, with that ounce I can go back in time to 1929 and get approx $20. That means prices are now approx 50X higher. In 1929 it would cost me twenty bucks to rent a room for a month, that sames exact room in 2009 cost me a thousand dollars, so rather than gold going up, we have the dollar going going gone...

Deficits are coming?
They say deficits are coming, but I say deficits are here. OK now we have multi trillion dollar deficits every year. The cumulative by the end of next decade is said to be nine trillion. Time is running out to balance our budget.
People, this is not sustainable. Sadly, our gov wants to spend money like a sailor on shore leave. This is money we do not have. If we keep going down this path we face hyperinflation and a bankrupt nation.

Luckless Landlords
Perhaps we need a new word to explain what is happening as in land locked instead of landlord. Sadly many home owners unable to sell their house and losing their jobs were forced to relocate and become landlords by default. This is not going to make life easy. For one thing few have business experience, as tenants often pay late, use bad checks, and destroy property.

Problems with Obama Stimulus
Sadly, the american recovery and reinvestment act AKA Obama Stimulus Package has not stopped unemployment from rising. This is because our economy is falling apart and ripping at the seams. OK as people lose jobs more businesses close and move employees are thrown out of work. Today our jobless rate rose to 9.7% a 26 year high. US gov is trying to put people to work. Perhaps a new stimulus bill can do that.

newspapers in woe
San Francisco Chronicle laid off a quarter of its classified ad workers. This is due to our economic recession. Well, some will blame Craigslist, but I say - if we were in a recovery we would need more people, not less working in classifieds. However, small biz is saying that they are cutting back expenses due to slow sales. Folks, that does not sound to me like things are getting better - no they are getting worse.

economic ruin
There are pundits calling our moves - economic suicide. Printing all those little green pieces of paper means inflation is on its way. People, we cannot imagine that our gov can run our printing press hot, without it affecting the value of money in our pocket. Sadly, more dollars means each new one is worth less, soon WORTHLESS.

Home sales rise?
Truly interesting how economist claim that home sales rise means we are exiting a severe recession. I feel that house are now at fire sale prices, but people have little money with which to buy a new home. That said, there are those investors who are scooping up foreclosures at bargain basement prices. OK my take on the whole thing is that we are in for a nasty surprise when investors realize that all is not well.
